Add-On Opportunity
Saturday, June 13th 1-5 p.m. Integrating Bystander Interventions into Our Work Bystander Intervention Theory provides important insights into intervening when hazing – or any high-risk behavior – occurs, and the intervention skills can be learned. This post-institute program, facilitated by Dr. Alan Berkowitz, will cover a variety of methodologies and approaches for looking at the role of the bystander, including the social norms approach, moving through each of the five stages, and how to use the latest tool available – the Response-Ability DVD and facilitator guide – to teach intervention skills to students. This opportunity is available to all institute participants, and others who want to attend for an additional $50.

| Hazing affects many different segments of college life and the larger society, and is complicated by the secrecy and tradition in which it is practiced. Its elimination requires a unified and unequivocal approach. Through this training, we hope to bring together those individuals with the power to impact the problem on a large-scale, and provide the tools to help them do so. |
